\nIn the past when doing this unit I have given students a list of occupations, and you get them to choose which of those people you would want on a desert island with you if you were shipwrecked. Obvious ones, like millionaire, lawyer, carpenter...etc. Could be a group task I guess? I based it on this old-school play I did in 3rd form, "The Honorable Crichton". Ties in with the 'well-read person' debate in this unit :)

It's an interesting one not only because of the things they choose to keep in such a desperate situation but because it's also a meta-exercise where you have a group observer commenting on the group dynamics. I'll try to find a copy of the exercise online and post it.
