Some general advice: 1. It is not acceptable to just watch videos for the last few lessons. Not only is this ‘not maximising academic learning time’, students will get bored and restless if they are watching videos for five hours a day. 2. The amount of time you have after the exams will depend on the year level and option line of your class; check your plan book and choose an activity that is appropriate for the time you have available. 3. Be respectful of others’ teaching spaces. Bear in mind there are still ICT classes, PE classes, drama classes and so on that may need the same resources you wish to use. 3. Consider offering students a choice of options, or having a class vote on which activity they want to do. They will be more engaged in the activity if they feel they have been involved in the decision process. 4. Finally, have a Plan B; what are you going to do with the students who just can’t work in a group/use the computer responsibly/speak in front of the class? Be aware of where the withdrawal room is if you need to send students out.
